Milan offer French striker Christopher Nkunku to Barcelona
The Catalan newspaper El Nacional revealed a new development in Barcelona’s search for a new striker, reporting that AC Milan has offered the services of their French striker Christopher Nkunku (28 years old) to the Blaugrana management to compensate for the numerical disadvantage resulting from the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
Milan’s move comes amidst Barcelona’s encountering complex obstacles in securing their main targets. Atlético Madrid continues its intransigence regarding Julián Álvarez, while the release clause for striker George Mkotadze has risen to €75 million, forcing Barcelona’s management to consider alternative options available in the market.
The Italian club is keen to offload Nkunku this summer, given his declining playing time and recurring physical setbacks since his previous stint at Chelsea, despite scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists last season.
For his part, German coach Hansi Flick is dealing with the Nkunku option very cautiously, as he sees it as a necessary and secondary solution due to the player’s injury-ridden medical record. However, the management does not rule out resorting to it as a quick and available economic outlet in the last hours of the transfer window, should the doors be closed to the first deals.
