Nayef Aguerd backed out of a move to Real Sociedad at the last minute
French reports have confirmed that Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd backed out at the last minute of signing for Real Sociedad from Olympique Marseille during the current summer transfer window.
The website Foot Mercato reported that Aguerd successfully passed his medical and that an agreement between the two clubs was finalized, before the player reversed his decision after a conversation with the Spanish club’s coach.
The same source indicated that Aguerd was set to return to Real Sociedad on a one-year loan, with Olympique Marseille receiving €3 million, and an option to buy for €17 million.
This sudden change in the Aguerd transfer deal comes after a conversation between the Moroccan player and the American coach, Pellegrino Matarazzo, which is believed to have been the reason behind the Olympique Marseille defender’s decision to cancel the move.
