Chelsea set a deadline for Manchester City to sign Enzo Fernandez

Enzo Fernandez’s transfer to Manchester City has entered a crucial phase after Chelsea presented the English club with clear conditions for finalizing negotiations in the coming days.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City has been in talks with Chelsea for several days, attempting to reach an agreement on the Argentine midfielder’s transfer. However, the London club is holding firm on its demand for the full £120 million fee.

Chelsea has set a deadline of 5 PM UK time on Friday for the fulfillment of its conditions. If no agreement is reached before the deadline, Fernandez will remain with the team for the new season.

Manchester City’s move comes amid the impending departure of Rodri, with the club viewing Fernandez as one of the top options to replace the Spanish midfielder.

The Argentine enjoys a strong relationship with manager Xabi Alonso, who is well aware of his abilities, and the player is highly regarded within the English club.

Barcelona withdrew from the race to sign Fernandez after failing to convince Chelsea with their offer, while the London club insists on a substantial transfer fee for their player.

Fernandes joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2013 for £106.8 million, a then-record fee for a British player.

The Argentine midfielder is under contract with Chelsea until 2031 and is valued at around €100 million according to Transfermarkt. He has made nearly 300 appearances for the London club in all competitions.

Manchester City now face a race against time to meet Chelsea’s financial demands before the deadline or risk keeping Fernandes at Stamford Bridge.
