Journalist Fabrizio Romano announced that Barcelona has suffered a major blow after it was confirmed that young Swedish winger Ronnie Burgdjic has sustained a severe cruciate ligament injury, which will sideline him for several months.

The detailed medical examinations revealed that the 20-year-old requires immediate surgery, followed by a rehabilitation and medical care period expected to last between six and seven months before he can return to group training.

This serious injury comes at a particularly difficult time, as the Camp Nou management was finalizing a loan deal for him to one of the clubs interested in acquiring his talent, with the aim of giving him more regular playing time and developing his competitive potential.

This sudden development forces the coaching staff, led by Hansi Flick, to reconsider their plans. Burgdjic will remain on the list to receive treatment under the supervision of the Catalan club’s medical team.
